This low cost alternative can achieve up to 13% savings when compared to standard steel frame structures. It uses ply or steel gussets to provide the moment resisting connections to the Stratalam columns and rafters. This produces a complete rigid frame.
Design Features of Gusset Portals
These portals are fully transportable and easily assembled. A typical frame arriving on site consists of two Stratalam columns with gussets attached, plus one continuous pitched rafter member. The rafter can be extended beyond the columns to provide an overhang. For large spans and easier transport, the rafter can be supplied in two sections with an apex gusset.
Gusset portals are particularly in demand for spans between 15m and 36m in warehouses, factories, packing shed, cool-stores, sawmills, gyms and halls.
